Sarah’s Designs and Bakery

Abeille is pleased to support local Junior Artist, Sarah, a multi- talented jewelry designer and baker.  Sarah has a unique sense of style that is both sophisticated, yet whimsical. I’d like to share with you two of her pieces, both of which incorporate her hand drawn focal pendants. They are strung on wire with sterling silver, fresh water pearls and Swarovski crystals. They are absolutely stunning.

Sarah can also be found in the kitchen, where she churns out delicious baked goods and with the same flair for whimsical color and design, elaborately decorates everything from cakes to cookies.  Sarah has baked for birthday parties at Abeille, including Abeille’s very own first birthday party!

Stop by the shop to see some of Sarah’s other designs. All pieces are on sale at Abeille and the sales go directly to the junior artist. So come and support the arts (and maybe even get some holiday shopping done!).

Celebrate Abeille’s 1st Birthday!

It was a year ago this November the Trachtmans opened Abeille in Brookline Village as an oasis for the crafty and non-crafty alike. To celebrate this milestone, Abeille will be hosting an array of activities kicking off on Thursday, November 5th.

November 5, 6:30pm-9:00pm – Meet and Shop with Five Talented Brookline Jewelry Artists
Jenn Mason, mixed-media artist and author
Michelle Rothman, of Ojas Jewelry Design
Hanne Bernstein of Danish Jewelry Design
Sara Harding of Sara Danielle Designs
Lisa Trachtman of Abeille

From 7-9pm, Jenn Mason will be signing and demonstrating key techniques from her latest book, Altered Paper Jewelry. Sara, Michelle, Hanne and Lisa will be showing their work and are available to answer questions, providing a great opportunity to learn more, support local art and get a head start on your holiday shopping. Participants in the events will be entered into a drawing to win free jewelry.

If you can’t make it to Thursday’s celebration, come join us for a “Girls Night” Workshop on Friday from 6pm-7:30pm. We are offering this workshop at a discounted rate of $10. Wine and refreshments will be served, of course.

We will cap the celebration on Saturday from 12-4pm with a Birthday party celebrating “Jeune Abeille” complete with balloons, face painting, treats and cupcakes baked by junior artist Sarah Silvestri. Magic show starts at 2pm so don’t be late.

Follow us on Twitter for additional details about the event.

Celebrating Thea’s Birthday

Thea's Birthday PartyThis week, Thea had a surprise birthday party here at Abeille.  Sixteen kids from the Pierce School roared into the shop with big smiles and friendly “Hellos!” just minutes after the school bell rang.  The anticipation of the surprise had them all quite excited and ready to celebrate!  They tucked themselves into the back studio to wait and were very quiet once Sarah spotted Miss Thea.  As the guest of honor entered, they yelled surprise, and she was certainly surprised!

Once Thea caught her breath, the group settled in and created funky- yet functional!- locker gadgets using paper, ribbon, cork board, stickles and embellishments.  Each guest put their personal touch on their pieces and the results were fantastic. Everyone had lots of fun showing off the finished results.

While they waited for their pieces to set, they indulged in the sweetest cupcakes baked by Sarah, a talented Junior Artist.sarah's cupcakes Sarah and Thea have become fast friends through their shared experience in Brookline Artist Open Studios in May.  Both were mentored by Lisa Trachtman, the Abeille staff and jewelry designer Michelle Rothman from Ojas Jewelry Design. Thea created a line of resin jewelry while Sarah showed pieces using stringing and wire working techniques. Sarah also incorporated some of her drawings into pendants.
