You will learn about types of wire, wire gauge and softness. We will discuss how to strengthen wire and when to hammer. In this class, we will discover how to make eye pins, head pins, decorative swirls, clasps and ear wires including those used in our Hot Moroccan Night earrings.

Tools and materials are included in this class fee. Additional costs for Sterling.

PMC Basics – Pendant, Earrings or Charms

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) Pendants & Charms Class

In this class, we will focus on techniques to make fine silver or Bronze pendants or charms to be used for necklaces, bracelets and/or earrings using precious metal clay. We will cover design, adding texture, rolling, polishing and finishing. No experience is needed. This class is appropriate for beginners and those looking to refine their skills.

This is a two part workshop. The first session is a 2 hour session where you work with the clay and create your pieces. Part II is a 1 hour session focusing on finishing techniques such as cleaning and filing. We can also use of liver of sulfer to add a rich patina.

The class fee covers instruction, in-class use of all necessary tools and stamps needed to make your one of a kind pendants and/or earrings. Clay is not included.

Abeille is excited to announce our annual Artist Trunk Show Series. Each week of the Trunk Show Series we will introduce a new local artist. So come by and mix and mingle with our weekly featured artists. (Drinks and snacks will be provided) This series will continue on through late December. After School Workshops

This Winter, we are inviting young people from ages 10-15 to come and hang out at Abeille in Brookline Village every Wednesday from 3:30pm-5:30 pm or Friday from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. Also available at 12:30 on early release dates. Pickup at the Pierce or Lawrence school can be arrange upon request. We will have a different craft project each session. So check back or call for the projects you like.

When you attend your first class you will receive your “Bee List” card. This card allows you to receive 10% off all beads and materials until June 1, 2012. You will receive a stamp for every class you take and when you take 5 classes the 6th one is FREE! Your card will be valid through June 1, 2012 and is transferable among siblings.

Students are welcome to bring a snack and bottle of water to class.

Cost is $40.00 per class and includes materials. Advance Registration is requested for all classes as space is limited.

Wire Working: Briolette Wrapped Earrings or Necklace Class

In this class, you can make a beautiful pair of earrings or necklace using an intermediate wire-wrapping and briolette wrapping techniques. We will discuss types of wire, wire gauge and key tools (round-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, cutters and nylon pliers).

We will review design concepts and learn to work with wire, chain, briolettes and beads to make a stunning piece.

The use of tools and hand-outs are included in the class fee. Materials are additional and selections will be made during class time. 10% off all purchases made on the date of the class.

Pearl and Leather Necklace or Bracelet Demo Class

The Abeille team is offering a discounted hands-on demonstration to complete this amazing piece. This item can be worn either as a necklace or as a multi-layer bracelet (my personal favorite). You will make a 56″ necklace and we will cover basic wire working techniques which will also give you the skills needed to make earrings and pendants in the future.

Materials are additional and we ask that you purchase materials from Abeille. We will help you with leather and bead selections and a 10% discount will be given on this date.

You are also welcome to purchase one of our project cards for $5. They are great reference materials.

The class runs for 1 hour. We suggest that you allocate 2 hours to complete the piece. Our studio and materials will be made available for use. The instructor will also be available for questions after the 1 hour session.

Sarah’s Designs and Bakery

Abeille is pleased to support local Junior Artist, Sarah, a multi- talented jewelry designer and baker.  Sarah has a unique sense of style that is both sophisticated, yet whimsical. I’d like to share with you two of her pieces, both of which incorporate her hand drawn focal pendants. They are strung on wire with sterling silver, fresh water pearls and Swarovski crystals. They are absolutely stunning.

Sarah can also be found in the kitchen, where she churns out delicious baked goods and with the same flair for whimsical color and design, elaborately decorates everything from cakes to cookies.  Sarah has baked for birthday parties at Abeille, including Abeille’s very own first birthday party!
