Traditional European (or Pearl) knotting is an elegant way to make jewelry. It not only protects pearls and other stones, the silk knotting provides a beautiful draping effect when wearing your piece.
It his class, we’ll use any combination of faceted Swarovski® crystals, bold colored or traditional white pearls and silk to create a bracelet. We’ll also share other examples of knotted pieces to provide inspiration on future projects.

We have designed our workshops to meet the needs of students of all levels. We will spend four half-day sessions learning a variety of techniques and creating several projects throughout the week. The groups will be split into “Fundamentals” and “Advanced”. Each participant will have the opportunity to work at their own pace. Projects will vary fr0m session to session so the workshops offer a new experience each time. Some of the projects covered will be as follows:
Fundamentals and Fun
Learn to make bracelets, earrings, pins and pendants. We will also work on more advanced techniques to create some trendy repurposed jewelry using resin.
- color, design, layout, tools and materials
- attaching a clasp to create a bracelet
- using wire to make earrings
- decoupage
- weaving and more, as time permits
Advanced Techniques
In our advanced class, we will provide a quick review of the basics. Techniques covered will be as follows:

- loops, wrapping and linking
- wire wrapped rings
- twisted branch or coiling technique
- working with paper, punches, resin and found objects (bottle caps, Scrabble Tiles and paper)Ages: 10+

Beginner Basics: Stringing and Loops Class

Wire Working: Briolette Wrapped Earrings or Necklace Class

In this class, you can make a beautiful pair of earrings or necklace using an intermediate wire-wrapping and briolette wrapping techniques. We will discuss types of wire, wire gauge and key tools (round-nose pliers, flat-nose pliers, cutters and nylon pliers).
We will review design concepts and learn to work with wire, chain, briolettes and beads to make a stunning piece from earrings, charm bracelets, simple and intricate necklaces
The use of tools and hand-outs are included in the class fee. Materials are additional and selections will be made during class time. 10% off all purchases made on the date of the class.

Save the date for this year’s biggest jewelry and accessory show at Abeille as part of Brookline Artists Open Studios. The show kicks off on Friday, April 26 at 5:30pm – 9pm and continues Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28 from 11am to 6pm. On Friday evening, sip and mingle with the local designers. It’s a great opportunity to connect with amazingly wonderful and talented neighbors.

In this class, you will learn how to interweave beads, pearls, semi-precious stones or rhinestone chain onto leather to make this popular-style bracelet your own. You chose the lengths and the stones, and we’ll show you the technique. This bracelet can be wrapped or stacked –it’s your choice. The use of tools during class is included in the class fee and the materials of your choice are additional. 10% off all supplies the day of the class.
This technique is easy to learn and appropriate for all levels of experience. There is some detail work so please bring glasses, if needed.
Note: You can expect to complete one wrap during class. We will demonstrate the finishing technique and provide detailed instructions so that you can complete the bracelet at home, should you wish to lavish your wrist with multiple wraps. In this class, we will focus on techniques to make fine silver or Bronze pendants or charms to be used for necklaces, bracelets and/or earrings using precious metal clay. We will cover design, adding texture, rolling, polishing and finishing. No experience is needed. This class is appropriate for beginners and those looking to refine their skills.
This is a two part workshop. The first session is a 2 hour session where you work with the clay and create your pieces. Part II is a 1 hour session focusing on finishing techniques such as cleaning and filing. We can also use of liver of sulfer to add a rich patina.
The class fee covers instruction, in-class use of all necessary tools and stamps needed to make your one of a kind pendants and/or earrings. Cost of clay is not included.

Gather your small buttons, photos, stamps, fabric scraps, cool papers or interesting images. In this class, you will learn a number of jewelry design techniques that will allow you to transform recycled materials such as bottle caps and scrabble tiles into mixed media charms and eye-catching accessories. Using small found odds and ends, you will learn how to setup your space, measure, mix and our a non-toxic jewelers resin as well as layer, add color and more. You will also learn some wire-working techniques to attach pieces or create frames that you can incorporate into finished pieces.
Students should bring materials they’d like to include in their pendants, fun decorative papers (wrapping paper is fine) and any odds and ends that seem interesting.

Create one of kind pins, magnets, rings, earrings or pendants using recycled bottle caps, scrabble tiles, papers, magazines, photos and found objects. You will learn how to cure your piece to prevent distortion as well as how to prepare a non-toxic jeweler’s resin to preserve your piece. A number of techniques and tips will be covered.
Bottle caps, images and resin are provided. Students are welcome to bring additional materials including papers and found objects. These can also be purchased at Abeille at a 10% discount along with any findings to transform your pieces into pins, rings, pendants, cuff links, earrings or personalized ornaments and key chains.
Please note that resin needs 24 hours to cure so it’s best to leave your materials over night to dry.
