Sunday, 12/19: Rina Castillo Jewelry Trunk Show

Rina Castillo will be joining us on Sunday, December 19 from 12-5pm and we are excited to carry some of her handcrafted jewelry, labeled Bijoux R at Abeille all month.

A financial services professional by day, Rina has been crafting jewelry for 6 years and has enjoyed it as a creative and aesthetic outlet.

She loves experimenting with different styles and techniques and her pieces run the gamut from dainty to bold, often depending on the season and her mood!  She is eager to share her latest creations – most of which are specially priced for spur-of-the-moment holiday gift-giving.

Jewelry by Caitlin and Fiddlehead Fern

On Sunday, November 14 we celebrated a jewelry extravaganza with Caitlin and Patricia Smith. The shop was bustling and the champagne mimosas were flowing. Caitlin’s leather weaved bracelets are to die for. We are thrilled to share that we will have some of Caitlin’s pieces as part of Abeille’s holiday jewelry collection.

Caitlin was born and raised in New Jersey but loved Boston so much after a visit that she decided it was time for a change of scenery. Once settled in Brookline she combined her need for a creative outlet with a love of accessorizing  to create jewelry evocative of her personal style; simplicity with a flare. She adds modern twists to vintage inspirations resulting in uniquely romantic jewelry.

Sun. 11/21: Jessica Roland of Sassafras Bindery

We were thrilled to host Jessica Roland of Brookline based, Sassafras Bindery on Sunday, November 21st.

Her handmade books and boxes are precise and exquisite. She uses traditional and custom structures for her books and boxes and includes Japanese and recycled papers.

Jessica shared her knowledge and passion for bookbinding. She showed us the tools of the trade and walked us through the binding process. She even had some mini-books for us to make and take. It was a great day. Thanks, Jessica!

7:00 pm

On November 17, Maggie Carberry joined us to demonstrate the creation of texture plates for use with her fabulous Precious Metal Clay pendants which surround her mini tableaux. They are truly amazing and These pendants will be available at Abeille through Christmas. I have one on my gift list.

More about Maggie … “Maggie Carberry grew up in Pelham, New York.  She moved to Boston by way of Washington DC, London, and Brasilia. Whether it involves a visit to another country or her own back yard, Maggie’s work begins with a camera and a journey. She uses printmaking processes and layers of media to transform her nostalgic images into work that reflects a passing of time. Maggie’s mixed media paintings often remind us of a simpler time in our own idealized memories.  Those hazy days are further fragmented and captured inside her handmade, one of a kind pendants. Maggie works out of her home studio in Jamaica Plain, MA.”

You can find Maggie on Facebook or at www.MaggieCarberry.com

Trunk Show: Jewelry by Kolleen

On Wednesday, November 10 from 6:30-8:30pm Abeille was thrilled to host wire-working artist, Kolleen Burbank.

Kolleen began beading in her hometown in Connecticut. Her favorite pieces use wire-wrapping to put a twist on classic styles. Kolleen has always enjoyed experimenting with different chains. More recently, she has incorporated wire-wrapped beads into chain pieces to strike a good balance between delicate and casual jewelry.

We are pleased to have some of Kolleen’s pieces available to our customers throughout the holidays.

April 29, April 30, May 1: Tanya Moss Jewelry Sale & Demonstration

Tanya Moss, of Laurels and Moss, is a self-taught jewelry maker born and raised here in Brookline. She began creating jewelry in her best friend’s kitchen in elementary school and completed her first pair of earrings after five long hours at that kitchen table–but from that day on she was hooked.  Since then, she has focused on wire working, improved her techniques, and outfitted her family and friends with all the jewelry they could ever want.

Recently, while working at Abeille, she has expanded her repertoire to include working with ribbons, chains, and hand-knotted stones.  She works mostly in antique metals, giving her jewelry an earthy and comfortable feel.  Sometimes inspired by nature but mostly inspired by her friends, Tanya creates exciting pieces that are eye-catching but easy to wear.

Tanya will also be sharing some wire wrapping techniques. So come along on Sunday, December 12 from 1-5pm

Weds. 12/15 Polymer Clay Jewelry by AnnEnglish Designs

Please join us on Wednesday, December 15 from 6-8pm for polymer clay jewelry by Jenny, the artist behind AnnEnglish Designs.  Jenny has been creating jewelry since the age of 10 (she jokes she is an old lady at 25), and has done everything from flame worked glass beads to metal smithing. Self-taught, she is constantly looking for new mediums and dove headfirst into the art of polymer clay jewelry three years ago.  Polymer clay has gained much respect as a medium in the past ten years, with juried and museum shows, and Jenny is constantly striving to expand on her techniques.  Whimsy and sophistication are two hallmarks of her polymer work.  She loves the sheer versatility of the clay and greatly enjoys seeing the look of disbelief on people’s faces when she tells them her pieces are made of polymer clay.

April 29, 30, May 1: Jewelry by Sarah, Junior Artist

Sarah is one of our Junior Artists for Brookline Open Studios and is a multi-talented young lady.  She cooks, she has her own baking business, she knits, paints and draws.  Her first love, however, is jewelry design and crafting, and we are thrilled that she will be participating in our Artist Trunk Show Series.  Sarah will be showing some of her original handmade jewelry.
