Carrie Ramig’s Paintings and Jewelry and Demonstrations

We were thrilled to have Carrie join us on December 8. She exhibited her jewelry and paintings and demonstrated different techniques for creating clasps. Examples include, beaded loop and button end, wire wrapping, as well as various other techniques.

Carrie has been a practicing artist for roughly 5 years. Her work has been shown in Illinois, New York and Boston. She has won several awards and has exhibited in multiple juried shows.

Carrie gains much of her inspiration from the outdoors. Colors and textures of the environment offer insight for ways to combine different stones in jewelry or colors when painting.  We all hope you will be able to join us for a chance to meet one of our new fellow Bostonian artists.

A Surprise Visitor!

The Holiday season has begun here at Abeille and today we had a truly lovely surprise when Diane Barrett, a New York painter in town to visit her family for the Thanksgiving holiday, dropped in.  Diane loves vintage glass and dropped in to show us her absolutely beautiful jewelry.  Her brightly necklaces of vintage glass are playful, colorful and very festive.  She even brought it in a seasonally decoupaged box- so creative!  We couldn’t resist taking pictures to share with you.

Pictures are coming soon, I promise

Open Studio Artists Hard at Work

Michelle Rothman came by today to prepare the displays for Brookline Open Studios. Michelle and I along with junior artist Sarah Silvestri will be showing our work on May 2 and 3 from 11 am – 6 pm.  We have also joined forces with seven other artists as part of a Jewelry Hot Spot at Abeille.  It’s been so much fun getting to know everyone and preparing for the event.

Sarah and Thea, Michelle’s daughter, had a half-day at school so they helped Michelle.  Sarah and Thea cut all the leaves and passed them along to Michelle to hot glue on the branches.  They look amazing! Greer was in so she captured some great pictures of all the elves at work.

I’m so pleased with how things are coming together and thankful for everyone’s help. Although we worked hard, we had a blast. Of course, we all found a few minutes to make some jewelry. We are trying to convince Thea to join us for Open Studios.
