Wire Working Series

Wire is very versatile and can help you create fabulous handcrafted jewelry. Learn all about the tools, materials, and techniques needed to turn wire, beads and ordinary objects into finished pieces. Each week you’ll learn a new wire technique such as stringing and crimping, working with chains, eye pins, and clasps, shaping wire, creating earrings and other adornments.

The first class will focus on our Beginner Basics techniques and the second session, we’ll focus on wire wrapping then move on to briolette, 3rd is Wire Wrapped Rings, in the fourth class you will learn how to hammer and a new way of wrapping with Hammered Hoop Earrings. Week 5: Make Your Own Findings including eyepins, ear wires, clasps and then we will see where this wonderful journey takes us next.

Crystal Ring Class

Learn to make a beautiful Swarovski® crystal ring. Techniques covered in the class include right-angle stitch and other ways of working with seed beads and mono-filament.

This class is suited for all skill levels and is a wonderful introduction to making beaded rings. Also, with so many colors to pick from, the color combinations are endless! One sparkling flower rings will be completed in class.

Bottle Cap Jewelry Class

Create one of kind pins, magnets, rings, earrings or pendants using recycled bottle caps, papers, magazines, photos and found objects. You will learn how to cure your piece to prevent distortion as well as how to prepare a non-toxic jeweler’s resin to preserve your piece. A number of techniques and tips will be covered.

Bottle caps and resin are provided. Students are welcome to bring additional materials including papers and found objects. These can also be purchased at Abeille at a 10% discount along with any findings to transform your bottle caps into pins, rings, pendants, cuff links or earrings.

Please note that resin needs 24 hours to cure so it’s best to leave your materials over night to dry.

Learn to Photograph Your Jewelry Workshop

Terri Swallow, author of Learn More Photo, will show how to photograph your jewelry using the Light shed kit with a regular point and shoot digital camera. She’ll show how the kit works and can be used at home without having to learn or buy a fancy camera. She will share tips and tricks to balance color and make your pieces sparkle. She’ll also cover some key techniques if you have one of those fancy cameras. Then, everyone will have the chance to either shoot their work (so bring your digital camera) or Terri will take some shots for you.

Bring two or three pieces you’d like to photograph as well as your digital camera. If you don’t have a camera, bring along a USB key so that you can take your pictures home with you.

This session runs 2 hours. We will supply busts, earring rings, etc.

Cross Woven Bracelet

Cross Woven Bracelet Class

Learn how to make this sparkling and dazzling bracelet in just one class – even if you have never beaded before. You will learn a technique known as “crossweaving” which is so gorgeous and easy, that you will want to make this piece in all different colors, over and over again. You will be able to leave class with a finished bracelet.

Materials:

  • Please come 15-20 minutes early to make your selections.
  • 2 colors of “main beads” – Swarovski or other 4mm bicones, druks (round beads) 6mm or smaller, all work well.  (100, 4mm beads or 75, 6mm beads will give you more than enough to make the bracelet).
  • 150 coordinating cube beads (optional)
  • 2 tube size 11/0 seed beads
  • clasp
  • 2 wire guardians
  • size 10 needle, wax, scissors and fireline thread available for use during class

Monthly Meetup

We meet on the third Thursday of each month. This monthly meetup is an informal way to share, inspire, or be inspired. We have books, magazines and tools available to share as well as papers, stamps, beads and tools for purchase, if you so desire. So bring your latest project or ideas and come join us!You may also be interested in using our Paper Craft and PMC Studio for a nominal fee.
